Carniolan Queen Bee
Imported 2025 Carniolan queen bee, mated and marked accordingly for the year. Bulk discounts automatically applied, see below.
The Carniolan Honey bee is a subspecies of the Western Honey bee. Native to slovenia and the southern Austrian Alps. Considered to be a gentle and nonaggressive bee to work with but also having a good ability to defend the colony from pests. They are said to have a very good sense of orientation with less drifting from one hive to another. Less prone to robbing and are able to winter in smaller sized colonies conserving stores making them better adapted for areas with longer winters. They are fast to build up in the spring and work extremely well in areas with a strong spring nectar flow with early pollen. The Carniolan bee which is adapted for life in the mountains will work at lower temperatures therefore allowing them to fly earlier and later in the day.
Queen bees are sold in strict accordance with government legislation and the guidelines set by the National Bee Unit. This ensures that every queen you receive is healthy and compliant with the highest standards of beekeeping practice, please see our Sale Of Live Bees Policy. All queen bees are shipped using Royal Mail. Royal Mail is one of the only companies in the UK that handles and delivers queen bees, following all local legal requirements and safety standards. Eager Queen
Queen arrived within 48 hours. Superb. Unfortunately, I assumed my hive had been queen less since winter. Assumed they'd accept her pretty quick. So rather than leaving the plastic tag on. I removed to allow quicker entry. The hive had different ideas. On inspection, after 5 days They'd killed her before she managesd to get out of the cage. Lesson leant. Again!

Mated Carnolian Queen
Hi Folks! The package arrived on time, as stated. I inserted the queen that day, between two frames of bees and brood. However, today, & days after postage, and six after insertion to the hive, I visited today to release the queen, however, she was very still, as were many other bees in the hive, it has been very cold here, and no nectar flow. She did release onto the comb, however, she fell off the comb onto the bottom of the hive. I have put the bottom boards back in, and also added sugar syrup, in the hope that they will revive themselves. I will check again in a few days, and see how the hive gets on. The attendants that came with the queen were very active still, but the queen was docile today. As a new beekeeper, I will take full responsibility. My other two hives, are brimming with bees, so not all bad. I will make a split from my busy hives, once I see a queen cell! Thank you, I will order again from Honeyfields Bee Farm.
