About Our Honey
What makes Honeyfields Bee Farm honey unique?
Our award-winning pure English honey is produced by our own bees here in Warwickshire and extracted with care using gentle warmth to help it flow through our extraction plant. We never overheat, pasteurise, or blend our honey, so it retains its natural enzymes, pollen, and delicate floral aroma.
Every jar reflects the wildflowers, hedgerows, and crops around our hives — a real taste of the Warwickshire countryside. For borage and heather honey, we also work with trusted bee farmers in Warwickshire and Yorkshire, so we can offer a wider range without moving our own hives long distances (reducing stress and disease risk).
How do you look after your bees and ensure sustainable honey production?
As a family-run bee farm, we care for our colonies with respect and responsibility. Our bees forage naturally across Warwickshire’s meadows, farmland, and hedgerows, and we manage them using sustainable, bee-friendly practices.
When needed, we use approved treatments as part of responsible pest management (including controlling Varroa). In autumn we feed a specially prepared sugar syrup to help colonies build winter stores. By partnering with trusted local bee farmers rather than moving hives long distances, we reduce stress on bees and support resilient, healthy colonies — helping us produce consistently pure, sustainable British honey.
Why does your honey cost more than supermarket honey?
Our English honey is priced to reflect its quality, authenticity, and craftsmanship. It’s produced in small batches, extracted and bottled in Warwickshire with gentle warmth to preserve flavour and natural goodness.
Supermarket honey is often imported, pasteurised, or blended from multiple countries. Ours is 100% pure, traceable, and made to high standards by skilled British beekeepers. When you buy from Honeyfields, you’re supporting local beekeeping and ethical production — and getting a genuine taste of the English countryside.
About English Honey in General
What makes the flavour of our English honey change throughout the year?
Honey changes naturally with the seasons because bees collect nectar from different flowers as they come into bloom. In spring, it’s often light and floral (for example from oilseed rape, dandelion, and hawthorn). In summer, it typically becomes darker and richer (for example from lime, clover, and bramble).
Each batch captures a snapshot of the countryside at that moment — that’s why seasonal honey has such character.
Why don’t you label your English honey as “raw”?
We don’t use the word “raw” because it isn’t legally defined in the UK and can be misleading. Our honey is pure, natural and unpasteurised — it’s only ever gently warmed during extraction and bottling to help it flow.
This minimal handling preserves the flavour, enzymes, and natural goodness people associate with “raw” honey, but we prefer the more transparent description: pure English honey, made with care.
Why does our English honey crystallise or set?
Crystallisation is completely natural in pure, unpasteurised honey. It simply means the natural sugars have formed tiny crystals. Spring honey often sets faster, while summer honey can stay runny for longer.
Set honey is perfectly good to eat (and often easier to spread). To make it runny again, stand the jar in a bowl of warm water and let it gently loosen.
How does buying our English honey support local bees and the environment?
Every jar supports British bees and sustainable beekeeping. Our honey comes from our own Warwickshire hives and, for borage and heather varieties, trusted UK bee farmers in Yorkshire.
We avoid transporting hives long distances, which reduces stress on bees and helps minimise the risk of spreading disease. Supporting local beekeeping also benefits pollination, local agriculture, and biodiversity.
What makes our English honey different from supermarket honey?
Most supermarket honey is blended, often imported, and frequently pasteurised. Our English honey is produced in small batches, only gently warmed to extract and bottle, and never over-processed.
That preserves its natural enzymes, pollen, and floral character — and because it’s traceable, you know exactly where it comes from.
How should our English honey be stored?
Store honey in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated. Over time it may darken or set — both are completely natural and don’t affect quality.
If it crystallises, warm the jar gently in warm water to bring it back to a runny consistency.
Can our English honey help with hay fever?
Many people believe local honey can help with hay fever by gradually introducing the body to tiny traces of local pollen. Scientific evidence is limited, but it’s a long-held traditional remedy.
Our pure, unpasteurised honey contains pollen from the Warwickshire countryside, and many customers tell us they enjoy it during pollen season.
How long does our English honey last?
Honey is one of nature’s few foods that never truly expires. Its natural composition helps prevent bacteria from growing. Over time it may change colour or texture, but it remains safe and delicious for years.
Stored properly, it will keep its quality and flavour indefinitely.
