Developed by Brother Adam, who was in charge of beekeeping from 1919 at Buckfast Abbey in Devon in the United Kingdom, the Buckfast bee is a hybrid honey bee. A cross of many subspecies and strains selected for individual traits. Buckfast queens are very prolific in the spring laying lots of eggs building up strong colonies for honey production in the spring and summer. Lower tendency to swarm, Calm on the comb and very placid bees when handled gently. They are the perfect bees for hobby and commercial beekeepers alike. 

Queen bees are sold in strict accordance with government legislation and the guidelines set by the National Bee Unit. This ensures that every queen you receive is healthy, robust, and compliant with the highest standards of beekeeping practice, please see our Sale Of Live Bees Policy. All queen bees are shipped using Royal Mail. Royal Mail is one of the only companies in the UK that handles and delivers queen bees, following all local legal requirements and safety standards. This ensures our queen bees are well looked after during transit, reaching you safely and securely.

All of our imported Buckfast queen bees are imported from an EU breeder who we have been working with for many years. All imports arrive in the UK accompanied with a health certificate, which is inspected along with the queens on arrival by the NBU.

All of our queen bees are dispatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1:00pm and must be signed for. This is to ensure that the queen spends minimal time in transit. 

 

Queens are dispatched in an introduction cage with several attendants to look after her on the journey. Click here to see our method of introduction. Please be aware that acceptance into your colony is not guaranteed.

Our Buckfast queen bees for sale are naturally mated - Non laying or drone laying queens will be replaced if sufficient photographic evidence is provided at our request.

    Third time I have used their services. Always great service queen arrived by 11 am and into the colony by 11.30. Last years queen from them has calmed down a very difficult colony and gave a great honey crop,

    Hi! I was profesional beekeper in Romania and I try in UK at the moment. Last year 2022 , I buy 4 bee queen from Honeyfieldsbeefarm and after spring check on March 2023 ....this year, I buyed 6 on April ...and will be another 6 on May or June. I take 2 boxes(20 frame )20kg aprox with honey last year(2022) / family and I left arround30 kg for winter... recomand : YES p.s. this reviw is for 2022 queen. for 2023 ... next year in sprig.

    Have had a few Buckfast queens from Honeyfields over the last couple of seasons. No problems at all and it's great to be able to time delivery for introduction. It makes planning a lot easier.

    Ordered on a Sunday while Royal mail were on strike. Arrived by 10 o'clock on Tuesday. Immediately introduced to hive. Calm acceptance into hive in 3 days and she stated laying immediately. Excellent in every regard.
